Congratulation to two of our Jonesboro FFA members! Trey Harbour was named the State Star in Production winner this morning during our virtual state convention. He advances to National FFA competition and is awarded a $1000 scholarship. Bracy Foote obtained her State Lonestar Degree. This is the highest honor at the state level that an FFA member can receive. Congratulations to both of our FFA members for their hard work and dedication.

Jonesboro FFA members, parents and guests: For the first time in the history of the FFA our State FFA Convention is being held virtually. Please be sure to tune in at 10am on Friday 7/10 for the results of the Star Awards (Trey Harbour has advanced to the final 4 in the state and interviews for secure his placing this Tuesday 7/7) and Bracy Foote will be awarded her State FFA Degree also on Friday at 10 AM. Varsity Cheer Tryouts Any current or new student wanting to join the already existing JISD Varsity cheer squad this is for you. Due to some unforeseen circumstances we will be hosting another cheerleading tryout. Due to restrictions this will be video based. I will list criteria below. I along with two judges will review video submissions. The number of those who make it will be decided once the number of submissions are complete. Please email kaylasellers@jonesboroisd.net for information on where to submit videos. Tryout Criteria Must perform: - Cheer of choice- Please show as much spirit as possible during cheer. - Fight song dance or dance at least one minute in length - Must show a toe touch and one other jump of choice - Must show tumbling of choice Submissions will be taken from 6/16/20-6/30/20. Again this is a virtual tryout only for those who wish to join the current cheer squad. No current cheerleader will trying again. Thanks!

Please remember that kindergarten and 7th grade students for the 20-21 school year need updates shot records. You can have your doctor send a copy of the shot record with you to submit to the school or fax us a copy at 254-463-2275. If you have any questions please call the school.

HS Boys workouts today at 6 PM. Reminder that you will need to bring your own filled water bottle and towel. Please come dressed as locker room will be off limits. Also due to restrictions placed by UIL and for the safety of our current students these workouts are only open to current students. Coach G

Dallas Isom....thank you. Thank you for all of your years of dedication to JISD. You have been invaluable to this school and community. I do know that you turned in your retirement letter after the last day teachers are on campus so we could not throw you a party. You would leave campus without a fuss because that's how your are. Please know that you will be missed dearly. Thank you for teaching our kids and loving them like your own. JISD is better for you having been here.

Yearbook Shoutout First up, for anyone who was ready to go to prom, the yearbook still wants to see those outfits! Next Tuesday the yearbook staff would love to come take your photo in them! If you would like to be apart of this please email kaylasellers@jonesboroisd.net If you took pictures in your pretty outfit already and want to send them in please email as well! Second, we are doing a page over the current pandemic. It was a big part of our year and really reworked the way students learned and teachers taught.
