After trying to coordinate work and delivery of materials we are just going to have students pick up all assignments from the school. We will be here from 8-4 Wednesday. Sorry for the confusion and the changes. We are working through all of this as much as possible.

JISD Parents, Listed below are some great ways to get your kids active while at home! Listed below are online resources as well as links to games that can be played outside. Sometimes the best exercise is letting your kids go outside and play unstructured. This keeps them active but allows them to use their own imagination while getting lots of exercise! Exercise/Play first thing in the morning helps to get their brains stimulated which helps for any instruction time you’re doing at home. I hope these links will help you while on this extended break. I will be posting different activities often on via our school Facebook & Dojo that will continue to help keep you littles active! A new need has been brought to my attention to help support our health care workers through this pandemic. While schools are closed their children cannot be left at home alone. This puts added strain on an already stressful situation. If you are a high school student or a person in a position to help and would like to help babysit children, please call me. I can get you in touch with with the correct people to coordinate this need.

Students and parents: Teachers and staff are already preparing lessons for next week. Due to the fact that this week was our spring break, we have not had a chance to meet as a faculty to collect lessons and prepare materials. We are meeting throughout the day Monday. Please expect lessons to start coming through Monday afternoon and Tuesday. We will have digital options as well as print copies. A schedule of times to pick up print copies and locations will be posted. Teachers will also support lessons with videos and other means of communication. I just wanted to update everyone on a time line of materials and work as this is new to us all. If at any time you have questions please call the school. We ask that you call to keep the number of visitors to the campus to a minimum. We are all answering emails and texts as well. Know that we already miss our students. We love hearing their spring break adventures and our hearts ache not being able to see them. Give the kids big hugs from their teachers and tell them we love them!

This app is free right now and functions just like the calculators we use in class. It will be very helpful for students in grades 7-12 to use at home.

As the school prepares for remote learning we will provide students with options to complete your assignments. As a math teacher by a nature, my thoughts go out to the freshman as they have to do their algebra 1 homework by hand.....or they can go to the link below to down load a calculator to use at home. If you cannot download the app please let me know. https://education.ti.com/en

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott ordered schools closed statewide Thursday until at least until April 3 and a ban on dine-in eating and gathering in groups of more than 10 as the state ramps up efforts to battle the coronavirus. Until the announcement, Abbott had left most of those decisions to local governments. Abbott's order also will shut down gyms and bars. Business closures take effect at 11:59 p.m. Friday, according to the governor's office. The governor said his order ensures Texas is following guidance provided by the federal government. Schools were instructed to develop education plans. The governor said it is not an order for Texans to shelter in place and does not restrict domestic travel, though he encouraged people to use drive-thru options at restaurants and other businesses to avoid being in large groups. Texans are still allowed to go in public, go to the grocery store and to work although Abbott encouraged companies to allow workers to work from home if possible. Government will remain open. We ask that all JISD Stakeholders to watch JISD Website and FB Page for updates.
